Shasta Retreat Center

La Ventana Shasta Retreat Center in Northern California is the home base for all of our events and projects. Set on 40 acres at the base of sacred Mt Shasta we have ample space and privacy for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat or getaway. Our property is best suited for larger groups and gatherings and we are now available for your own event or special occasion, offering the following facilities and amenities:


  • Main House with large open living room for indoor group meetings, fully equipped kitchen, 4 private bedrooms, 3 full baths and outdoor jacuzzi with mountain views.
  • Bunk House that sleeps 14 in shared quarters with a simple yet completely functional and beautifully renovated kitchen, year-round outdoor bathroom and showers with hot water and heated seats!
  • Brand new 1200 sq ft Event Space perfect for yoga, dance, group meetings and larger gatherings. One big open room with tall ceilings to host your event and access to our outdoor bath facilities. Sound System and other options available upon arrangement.
  • Outdoor toilets are state of the art bio-filter units from Ecozoic Resources. Waterless, virtually odorless and completely sustainable producing 100% usable fertilizer at the end of the cycle.
  • All water on the property is completely clean, pure and drinkable, coming directly from the glaciers on Mt Shasta.
  • 12 acres of developed flat land with many plants and flowers, grassy meadows, and several ponds that attract a constant flow of birds and wildlife.
  • 28 acres of undeveloped juniper forest with roads, trails, meadows and epic mountain views for you to enjoy nature walks or just a quiet space away from the hustle.

Accomodations

Bunk House - Shared Option


Beautifully decorated and simply furnished, our newly restored bunkhouse encourages serenity, nestled in a sunny juniper forest with views of the mountain. With 14 double-size beds (7 bunks), the bunkroom invites you to wake with the morning songbirds and sunrise and fall asleep to the lullaby of the owls. With electric heat and air, heated beds plus a wood stove for winter ambience you will be able to stay comfortable during any season. There is a nice central seating area to relax and visit, and a simple yet fully equipped kitchen with fridge, gas cooktop, toaster-oven, pots and pans and all the basic cooking and serving supplies. All the running water is spring water from our Shasta mountain and ready for you to drink right out of the tap.

Outside and just a few steps away is our bathroom area. The on-demand hot shower provides the opportunity to refresh while taking in views of nature. Dual toilets are bio filter, water free, and a core part of our sustainable vision for the property. All soaps and supplies are biodegradable and our facilities are always cleaned with environmentally-friendly products, to continue with our eco-friendly practices. You will have access to the grounds directly around the bunkroom and the bathroom as well as trails heading off into the rest of the 40-acre property and the surrounding juniper forest. One bed reservation is for a single person, or a couple willing to share a single level bunk.

Main House - Private Rooms


Subject to availability, we may offer 2 or 3 private rooms in our Main House depending on the event. Recently renovated, the house is beautifully decorated in a rustic-modern style. All rooms offer queen size beds and tastefully sparse decor and furnishings. A mini fridge may be available in each room in addition to access to the main kitchen, dining and living areas. Keep in mind these areas may be used for retreat, group, or food prep during your stay.

There are 2 shared bathrooms, one on each floor of the house. Both boast a recently updated tile shower with soaking tub and rustic farm-style fixtures and renovations. Although the bathrooms are shared between guests, they are exclusively reserved for those renting a room in the Main House only. Enjoy the back lawn and several outdoor areas adjacent to the Main House during your stay with us. One reservation is for a single person, or a couple willing to share a queen size bedroom. Remember you must also be registered for an event with us in order to reserve accommodations.
