We welcome you.
The Moondance is a traditional Indigenous prayer carried through lineage from the Ollintlahuimetztli Moondance of Teotihuacan, through the teachings of our beloved Abuela Malinalli, who now walks with us from the Mictlan.
This ceremony has been entrusted to us, and we carry it with respect, following the ways in which it was given.
We ask that all who come take the time to understand that this is not a retreat, workshop, or festival.
It is a prayer ceremony.

La Danza de la Luna es una oración indígena tradicional que ha sido transmitida en linaje desde la Danza Ollintlahuimetztli de Teotihuacan, a través de las enseñanzas de nuestra querida Abuela Malinalli, quien ahora camina con nosotros desde el Mictlán.
Esta ceremonia nos ha sido confiada y la sostenemos con respeto, siguiendo la forma en que nos fue entregada.
Pedimos a todas las personas que vienen que comprendan que esto no es un retiro, taller o festival.
Es una ceremonia de oración.
The Path
El Camino
The Moondance is a path of discipline, prayer, and commitment.
It is held over a four-year process, through which each woman gradually deepens her understanding of the ceremony, her relationship to the prayer, and her responsibility within the circle.
This path is not taught through explanation alone.
It is learned through:
- Participation
- Observation
- Repetition
- Silence
Each year builds upon the previous one.
We ask that those who enter do so with humility and willingness to learn.
La Danza de la Luna es un camino de disciplina, oración y compromiso.
Se sostiene a lo largo de un proceso de cuatro años, en el que cada mujer profundiza gradualmente su comprensión de la ceremonia, su relación con la oración y su responsabilidad dentro del círculo.
Este camino no se enseña solamente con palabras.
Se aprende a través de:
- La participación
- La observación
- La repetición
- El silencio
Cada año construye sobre el anterior.
Pedimos que quienes entren lo hagan con humildad y disposición para aprender.
Lineage
Linaje
This ceremony comes from a living lineage.
It is rooted in the traditions of the land of Teotihuacan and carried through elders who preserved these ways with dedication.
We follow the structure and guidelines that have been passed down.
We do not combine or alter traditions.
Each element of the ceremony has its place, its meaning, and its order.
To enter this space is to enter something that belongs to the lineage, not to any individual.
Esta ceremonia proviene de un linaje vivo.
Está enraizada en las tradiciones de la tierra de Teotihuacan y ha sido sostenida por abuelos y abuelas que preservaron estos caminos con dedicación.
Seguimos la estructura y los lineamientos que nos han sido transmitidos.
No mezclamos ni modificamos las tradiciones.
Cada elemento de la ceremonia tiene su lugar, su significado y su orden.

Commitment

We ask that all participants:
- Remain for the full duration of the ceremony
- Stay within the ceremonial space once the dance begins
- Participate in all aspects of the prayer
- Refrain from making outside commitments during this time
This is not a space to come and go.
The strength of the ceremony depends on the consistency and commitment of the entire circle.

Preparation
Preparación
The Moondance is a cleansing of the body, the mind, and the spirit.
Fasting is part of this way.
Each woman carries her prayer in her own way, with honesty and respect for her body.
- Some women will fast
- Some will eat lightly
You will bring your own healthy food for the days of the ceremony, as no meals are provided.
Food should be simple.
Enough to sustain you, without taking you away from your prayer.
Spring Water from the mountain is always available.
We ask that you prepare yourself before arriving, and that you come with awareness of your body and your limits.
La Danza de la Luna es una limpieza del cuerpo, la mente y el espíritu.
El ayuno es parte de este camino.
Cada mujer lleva su oración a su manera, con honestidad y respeto por su cuerpo.

Cada participante trae su propia comida saludable para los días de la ceremonia, ya que no se proporcionan alimentos.

This relationship is part of the structure of the ceremony.
- If you have a Madrina, she will guide your preparation
- If you do not, you will be supported in finding one
For those new to the dance, we strongly recommend attending the 4 Puertas preparation.

In order to support the preparation of the ceremonial grounds, the care of the land, the altar, and the continuity of this prayer, we ask each participant to offer their contribution according to their place in the ceremony.
We encourage early commitment, as preparation for the dance begins before arrival.
